In fact, Israel has a very long history of worshipping other gods besides the One with Whom Israel is covenanted. This history began even before Moses died, when the Levites who were supposed to be keeping the covenant intact and the real Name of the Supreme Being well known and used by all the people of Israel instead obliterated the real Name from the collective knowledge base of mankind, along with the only law that applied and still applies to all of Israel, the law given at Moab.

So yes, "God exists" but no one worships Him, nor can they, while the gods that are worshipped rule over the Earth.
