What the accounts clearly indicate is that something in the body, what is popularly called one's "spirit" or "soul", is what is gathered to one's people, who are also only spirits without bodies. What is clearly missing from all of these accounts is any mention that anyone goes to a place called "Heaven" for being "good" or "saved"; or being sent to a place called "Hell" for being bad, or for not being "saved". There is nothing in the Tanakh nor the so-called "Old Testament" that states any soul without a body goes to either "Heaven" or "Hell". |
